Switzerland is a land of contrast. Famous for everything from watches and chocolate to the most secure bank accounts in the world. Almost always a neutral country in the wars of Europe, it has long been known to edge weapons collectors for their formidable saw-toothed bayonets and to numismatists for their Shooting Thalers. Quite a range of contrasts and quit a country to collect coins from.
There are several small volumes on various aspects of Swiss numismatics but for a good overview you will need to invest in one (or several) of the "Century Editions" of "The Standard Catalog of World Coins" by Chester Krause and Clifford Mishler. Once you have gone deep enough into any one aspect of the numismatics if Switzerland, you may want additional works for that interest. But the "SCWC" is still the best place to start.
