The Walking Liberty Half Dollars were designed by A. A. Weinman and produced from 1916 to 1947. The obverse design has had such popularity that it was resurrected for use on the Silver Eagle Dollar bullion coins starting in 1986. As a set of full MS65 or better coins or a set of rolls in circulated conditions, there is something about this series that seems to inspire everyone to collect it at least for a while. Some coins so combine art and utility as to become timeless and the Walking Liberty is indeed one of these.
Good reference works for those more interested in this type of coin are The Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins by Walter Breen and The Complete Guide to Walking Liberty Half Dollars by Bruce Fox.
