Cybercoins' Franklin Half Dollars, the world's neighborhood coin shop.

In the 20th century we have had a change in our coins from decorating them with symbols to decorating them with portraits of some of our most-loved leaders, people like Thomas Jefferson and John F Kennedy and, on this series of half dollars, Benjamin Franklin. We still did retain an important symbol on this series though in the image of the Liberty Bell on the reverse. Made from 1948 to 1963, this design was only made in silver and does not have a clad version. It was designed by John R. Sinnock who also designed the Roosevelt Dime. Having no really high priced “key” dates or mints and a definite starting and ending point, this is a great series for young collectors.

A good reference work for those more interested in this type of coin is “The Complete Encyclopedia of U.S. and Colonial Coins” by Walter Breen.
